Los Rancheros Kiwanis has enjoyed playing a part in helping to support local Girl Scout troops by funding some of their endeavors. One of their projects was the creation of a Sensory Pathway at two local elementary schools. These incredible pathways help children release stress, deal with different emotions, focus on their studies and build their own brain’s sensory pathways. Their second project, Packaged With Love Bags, was created to brighten the days of others during the pandemic. The bags contained products geared towards seniors, health care workers, firefighters, and teachers.
As one of the benefactors of Los Ranchero’s “Stand Up So They Can Stand Down” golf tournament, our support helps NCSD’s outreach to our area’s homeless or in need veterans. During their 4 day stay, homeless veterans, their families and pets will receive food, lodging, clothing and a variety of other services to help them both physically and mentally.
NECA San Diego is the voice of the electrical construction industry. They are the largest financial contributor to the Los Rancheros “Stand Up So They Can Stand Down” golf tournament. Their support has allowed us to maintain our commitment to our military community and their families.
Support to Grandma Lulu’s Table with funding and volunteers provides an opportunity for Los Rancheros to contribute to hungry, homeless and food insecure individuals. Utilizing a mobile kitchen and offering a nutritious plant based meal, Grandma Lulu’s meets the needs of food insecurity, especially in children, where it’s needed most.
Our partnership with the Boy Scouts involves numerous projects. Working side by side, members of local troops have assisted Los Rancheros with clothing drives and packing meals for military families. Most recently, we were proud to have a local troop present colors at our 2nd Annual “Stand Up So They Can Stand Down” Golf Tournament supporting homeless veterans and Gold Star families. Our partnership also consists of financial support for the troops scouting programs.
In addition to donating to help support babies in need, Los Rancheros recently teamed up with Gently Hugged and the Starbucks stores in Rancho Bernardo to sponsor a clothing drive for infants, size Preemie to 12 months. The event was a success and a large amount of both new and gently used clothing and blankets were donated by our community.
A volunteer based organization, 4CommunityCare provides food and assistance to local seniors and families in the neighborhoods of Poway Unified School District. Los Rancheros was pleased to help support their efforts this past holiday season by collecting food items for their pantry. Additionally, we were able to provide funding so gift certificates to local grocery stores could be provided to food insecure families in the area.
Family Forever Gold Star Families: Los Rancheros proudly donates proceeds from our “Stand Up So They Can Stand Down” golf tournament to this outreach program honoring the sacrifices of families who have lost a service member on active duty. This program provides consistent, local support for the families rather than one time support. Open to immediate family members in San Diego County and Orange County, with events taking place in the San Diego area.
A long standing relationship with the Ronald McDonald House gives Los Rancheros Kiwanis the joy of serving children and their families. From preparing meals throughout the year for the residents, which could be 100+ residents each time, or decorating the facility for the holidays, we are inspired to bring a little cheer to the residents while away from home. Our Key Club members are an integral part in the success of this event.
The Wounded Marine Committee supports wounded and injured Marines and Sailors and their families through a long relationship with the USMC WWBn-W. It’s through this relationship that Los Rancheros Kiwanis funds projects and activities such as assembling Thanksgiving dinner boxes, providing children’s books for distribution during the holidays, school supplies at an annual back to school event, deep-sea fishing, and golf outings. Most recently, we’ve embarked on designing and building a community therapy garden on base at Camp Pendleton.
What our Partners say about us
We are measured by the company we keep
GENTLY HUGGED
We are incredibly grateful to the Kiwanians for supporting our mission to clothe infants in need. This past year the membership eagerly sponsored drives to collect clothing and blankets, knitted hats, and funded books for early reading to babies. This is a hands-on, vibrant group who actively serves the community to get things done!
