Service Leadership Programs (SLP)
Kiwanis’s commitment to building strong leaders
LEGACY AND LEADERSHIP
The purpose of the SLP is to teach community service and leadership skills to young people in our community. The result is not only the service that young people perform, but the legacy and leadership skills they take with them to college and into their adult lives.
KEY CLUBS
The best known of these programs is Key Club at the high school level. “KEY” is an acronym for “Kiwanis Educating Youth”. Key Club is a Kiwanis club at the high school level. Under the mentorship of Los Rancheros Kiwanis, the Key Club takes full responsibility of running their club and service projects. However, they are excited to participate in Los Rancheros fundraisers and events. They are instrumental in our service to the Ronald McDonald House.
EARLY AGE YOUTH CLUBS
Kiwanis’s commitment to the SLP starts at a young age. Builders Club is for our middle school students and K-Kids is a program aimed at the elementary school students. Another of our youth service projects is our Child Literacy Program coupled with Santa Visits at the holidays. Low-income pre-school students in our local school district are provided a brand-new book, school supplies and a toy.
